Story and Vintage are both great! Indiana wines are nice and smooth, even all the sweets! I have also attended Swiss Wine Festival in Vevay, IN and it is a great event as well. We usually go there and then take a jump over to Madison, IN and visit the wineries in that town. There are three there, but Lanthier is definitely our favorite! They have gorgeous gardens and lots of award winners from those different events! They also hold Traminette!

Thanks for your comment Kevin. I'm sure the wine has its fans. And, it was the only one of your wines I tasted on that busy day. No apology is necessary and perhaps I should have returned to suggest a pour from a different bottle. Congrats on the Gold! I'll try to get over to your shop one of these days and taste through the entire line.

We are also fans of Huber Winery and personal friends of Teds. Maybe you are unaware but out of the 66 wineries in Indiana, Most, if not all bring juice or grapes in from somwhere else. Huber is one winery whom I know grows his own Malbec grapes. Malbec is a very difficult grape to grow in our state due to climate and soil conditions. Yes, we do bring Malbec juice in and yes, it come in in large bags. The juice is pasteurized to maintain freshness. As for chemicals, we only use the basic chemicals everyone else uses during the process. I apoligize if you did not like our Malbec, but it is an excellent wine and very popular, so I don't think everyone else is wrong. We work very hard to maintain quality and take pride in our wines. Thank you for your comments, we will try even harder next year to win even more Golds.

There are a very small number of people allergic to sulfites, as I understand it. There are other components to wine that can cause a reaction. Good "organically grown" grapes with lower sulfites might help. The 'sulfite free' wines are often pretty awful.

My understanding is that people who have allergic reactions to wine are often reacting to either the sulfites or tannins. In the former case, could drinking organic wine be something the body accepts - an extra benefit? For the latter, well, take a Benadryl.
I just like the idea of drinking wine, not pesticides.

Rusty, thank you so much. You know, it scares me a little for the state of wine writing when the most consistent remark I get from folks I know - and don't know - that they appreciate the 'accuracy.' It's a high compliment, but one I read a little more into than I should perhaps! But sometimes accuracy and wine writing don't go in the same sentence! I'm headed to Napa/Sonoma next week. I'm very excited!

I think this is one of the best under $15 bottles I've had in quite some time, and I like the fruit-forward nature of this blend. I would NOT compare it to an Aussie "fruit bomb" Shiraz, it has more subtlety than that.

Good stuff, especially at the price, both with grilled beef and by itself.
